Joining Corporate IT

Here we are, one week of computing done in the Corporate IT setting. It on St Valentine day that I joined the training on ‘Data Warehousing’ at Accenture IT premises.

The training was based on Oracle Academy’s Siebel 7.7 Data Warehouse Developer course content (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&p_exam_id=1Z0_640).

There are many noteworthy points of this new experience:
Firstly, what you learn for your academic degree is just a stepping stone for the world of work. On the IT field, one has to prove oneself worthy of. I was stunned to see some trainees in the batch of fresh graduates ‘abandoning’ the Professional training by the company’s experts.

Secondly, I have been thinking a lot about my passion for Web 2.0 which can possibly be affected upon developing expertise in ERP/CRM systems used by IT Consulting firm. I have been passionate about the ecosystem of Open Source and Web Technologies. But maybe being in the shoes of Freelance Web Developer was suited for part time only and not for an ambitious career?!??!

helo….I am a CSE student of second year…during the last Job Fair at ebene….I had the chance of meeting quite a number of representatives of various companies….due my curiosity..I wanted to know why some people didn’t like accenture….some people said because of workload….some people said because of a dis-balance in working time hours….some people said because of initial poor pay though high workload…..as you just join in there…can you please illuminate my path a bit concerning the job of being a software engineer and the real implications involved??..thnks in advance dude..:)

    • Hello kishan, welcome to my blog!
hope ur cse studies going well..

Well me too i visited the ebene job fair and was tempted to join web development co. as i have been doing Web 2.0 on a freelance basis since 2007.

Well, i heard and still hear lots of negative sides of working at Accenture IT. i cannot say that u’ll be far much better in other IT. but as far as my first job is concerned, i know i will get the opportunity to get much to learn about the IT industry by working on the company’s project. i’ve joined the oracle capability and the future in oracle application is promising…
