became a BCS Professional Member, finally
Hello dear blog readers,
It is with great joy that I read that my application to upgrade my membership from AMBCS (Associate Member of the BCS) to MBCS (Professional Member of the BCS) has been approved!
Officially, to become a Professional Member (MBCS) one needs:
- 5 years IT work experience, or
- 2 – 3 years IT work experience plus relevant recognised qualifications (depending on level of qualification), or
- an Honours degree with BCS exemption.
I received a new Membership card and a Welcome Pack which contains the award of Professional Membership and a Welcome booklet.
The booklet contains details about BCS Membership as BCS is the leading voice of the IT industry whose mission is to seek IT professionalism through BCS values and competence standards.
The main benefits of Professional BCS Membership are:
1. Networking Opportunities
one can join Branches and international sections for eg. BCS Manchester or BCS USA branch or simple BCS Regional Office in Mauritius branch.
other facilities include: networking with other IT professionals by joining Specialist groups and responding to BCS Events like annual lectures, Professional talks and the institute’s IT Industry Awards.
2. Individual Professional Devvelopment
3. Knowledge and Best practice
Access to Books 24/7, EBSCO business journals/magazines, Forrester reports, Podcasts, Publications (ITNow, Digital Computing etc.)
4. Career Recognition and exclusive benefits
Joining a professional body stands you from the crowd. I now have the MBCS post nominal letters. A good start towards the prestigious Chartered IT Professional (CITP), which is the benchmark of IT excellence.
So, to conclude, that’s it folks. I gonna graduate for the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT on Sat. 15 Oct. 2011 and then what…
BCS Higher Education Qualifications, that’s it…. Ciao
